Participating in the group is FREE! There may be small fees for some of the trips but we try to find inexpensive and free opportunities. A few fieldtrips require that we get a headcount and commitment from you. Please attend the events that you sign-up for! This is important and allows us to "pay at the door" for most plays and special events.
Park days are on for Fridays 2:00 pm
We are STILL looking for a "home" for the homeschool group! We would like to have a place to offer free co-op classes, club meetings, tutoring, homeschool library and other resources, guest speakers, standardized testing and so much more! Please contact us if you are aware of a large indoor space that we could set up as a homeschool classroom. We would use the room several times a week for all sorts of activities! Keep your eyes open for computers, microscopes, bookcases and other materials that we could use in our unique "learning center". We would also be looking for parents and community leaders and professionals to teach free classes or be guest speakers.
Goal: We provide educational and social opportunities for all homeschoolers in our area. We welcome all and expect the BEST behavior at our activities!
History: The group was started in 2000 and is attended by homeschoolers in 5+ counties. A few of our past fieldtrips and activities include:
* annual science fair
* Young Harris planetarium
* Smithgall Woods - pond exploration, dress a beaver, fishing
* t-shirt painting
*Unicoi
* Willows pottery
* World of Coke
* annual cyclorama and zoo trip
* Burton fish hatchery
* Foxfire museum
* "Living History" camp
* annual book sale and trade
* Elachee Science Center - stream study, tree identification
* Tallulah Gorge hike, hydro-electric tour, reptiles class
* skating and bowling
* Jaemour farms tour, apple picking and hay ride
* plays, ballets and music at Brenau

We are still participating in "TOOLS FOR SCHOOLS" through Ingles. Please link your card to our group with our ID # 12004. This allows us to obtain art supplies for "Art in the Park".
